Well, it was a good thing that I posted the previous blog with our maternity pictures when I did. If you missed that post you can read it at /blog/our-dental-family-is-growing/. As I mentioned in that post, childbirth can be unpredictable, and true to form, our daughter decided that it was time to meet us 2 weeks early, and Kristina went into labor the next day! After close to 24 hours of labor, we were able to welcome our beautiful daughter, Gwyneth Kay Bell, to the world on August 30, 2016 at 1:24 pm. She was 6 lbs, 15 oz and 19 inches long, and is happy, healthy and the greatest gift we could have ever imagined. In the process of telling patients, family, and friends that we were expecting our first child, there was a range of suggestions, advice, and, of course, the excitement for us to become new parents. While most comments revolved around the importance of sleep, and how little we were going to be getting in the near future, the most common sentiment shared was the gift of life, and how your life will never be the same the moment you meet your child. We now understand the true meaning of unconditional love for our daughter and for each other. Thank you for the overwhelming support from our extended family of patients and friends, as well as your understanding with our last minute changes in the schedule. Our dog, Charger, has been adjusting well to his new role as protector and older brother, and not being the center of attention anymore.
