Lots of organizations deserve our support, but none more than the Boys and Girls Club.  Their work for Carlsbad’s children, especially those who need it, most separates them from the other deserving charities.  Having been in Carlsbad for over 50 years, I am convinced one to the main reasons Carlsbad does not have a gang problem is the work that the Boys and Girls Club does to keep children from falling into the gang culture by providing a safe place for children to learn and play.  The club house in the village located close to the barrio .

The Boys and Girls Club is close to our office and close to our heart. I used to be on the board, but as many of you know, I do not play will with others so we simply try to support and encourage others to support the Boys and Girls Club.  Every time I go to the Boys and Girls Club auction, we donate to support scholarships to enable children who cannot afford tuition into the Boys and Girls Club programs.  It is my wife, Debi’s, passion.  In addition, I always try to bid up the auction items acting as a shill to get more money for the Boys and Girls Club.  Sometimes it works, but more often than not, I  feel like the old guy Barry on Storage Wars when I try to bid up an item and get stuck paying more than its worth.  Knowing that it all goes to a good cause  makes it money well spent/donated. We also have a continuing program of donations from our dental office.  For every new patient who fills out their Health history prior to their appointment we donate 5 dollars to the Boys and Girls club.  Through this program we have donated over $6000.00.
